Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a system of natural health care that focuses on healthy function of the spine and nervous system.

Chiropractors recognise that subtle abnormalities in the movement of the joints in the spine – called Spinal Subluxations – can create stress on the delicate nerves that control and coordinate the body’s many functions.

This interference to the normal function of the nervous system may make the body more susceptible to various conditions including:

Chiropractors refer to the condition in which spinal joints become stiff or immobile as vertebral subluxation.

Subluxations in the spine are very common, and because they do not always cause symptoms in the early stages, many people will have one or more subluxations in their spine without even being aware of it.

These subluxations may have been caused by sudden forceful traumas to the body such as a fall, a strain or over-exertion, a motor accident, or a sporting injury; or they may have resulted from the cumulative effect of repeated micro-traumas. Examples of micro-traumas include repetitive strains or overuse injuries, poor posture, muscle imbalances, muscle tension caused by stress, and even chemical imbalances in the body.

Adjustment Techniques

There are many different techniques that chiropractors use to correct or adjust spinal subluxations, and at Chiropractic Solutions our practitioners will assess your individual circumstances and use a range of approaches most suitable to your condition and body-type.

These techniques may include:

  • Manual adjustments (a quick, light thrust to the spinal joints using the chiropractor’s hands)
  • Activator adjustments (using a gentle spring-loaded adjusting instrument applied to the spine)
  • Biomechanical blocking (wedges placed strategically under the patient’s hips to encourage muscle relaxation and gentle spinal correction)
  • Traction techniques
